FAQ - Issues after migration

We have discovered an issue when configuring the native email app on iPhones. 
If you are running IOS 10, you will be prompted for the username, password and server name.  Enter your email address and password, leave the server name blank.
If you are running IOS 11.0, you will need to upgrade to IOS 11.1 or newer.  There is an issue with IOS 11.0 which prevents it from working properly.
If you are running IOS 11.1 or newer, you should be in pretty good shape.  You will be prompted for your email address and password.  You will then be prompted for school/work or personal email address.  Select school/work and your setup should complete and your email should begin to flow.

If you had any shared calendars, the shares will need to be re-created.

The Global Address List (GAL) will be very different.  You will still be able to see all faculty/staff in the district.  Concerning the members of the GAL from other districts, only those individuals identified by the districts as needing GAL visibility will be visible in the GAL.  The GAL will stabilize once all districts have completed migration (end of May).

Disclaimer - this document will be changed frequently during the email migration project.  This page is your primary resource for information and status updates.

Email will be shut down on Thursday, April 26th at 4:30 EST.  You MUST log out of your email by 4:30!!!

Email will NOT be available Friday, April 27th.

Migration of OneDrive content will not begin until Friday, May 4th.  Access to OneDrive content may be delayed several days until the content has been migrated.  If you use OneDrive, please plan accordingly.

Before we get too deep into this subject, it is important to understand the three ways you may access your email.  They are:
1.  via the Outlook client (as part of Office)
2.  via webmail, aka OWA (Outlook Web Access) via the login.microsoftonline.com site
3.  via your mobile device

If you access email via options 1 or 3, steps will need to be taken upon completion of the migration in order for you to access your email.  Instructions will be provided when the migration has been completed.

Personal Distribution Lists WILL NOT migrate.  You are responsible for backing them up prior to the migration.  An example of a personal distribution list might be a distribution list you created for parents of students in your class.  See the Q/A section below for instructions for backing up your contacts via Outlook (option 1 from above).

IF you created your Personal Distribution List (aka Contact List) via webmail (OWA - option 2 from above), the process for you is much more complicated.  The issue is that you are unable to backup your Contact Lists via the web.  IF this applies to you, the only way to backup your Contact List is to logon to Outlook (option 1); your Contact List should be pulled down from the cloud into your profile; you would then be able to backup your contact list.

Once our migration has been completed, we will provide resources (on this page) which will assist you in configuring your mobile devices (option 3) with the new email configuration.

Your Outlook client (option 1) MUST be reconfigured after the migration.   We will provide documentation to assist you.  Our technical staff will also be available to assist.

Note - We have heard from multiple districts that some users temporarily lost access the contacts on their mobile device during the upgrade.  They later returned.  Don't be alarmed if you experience this issue.

Student email WILL NOT be migrated.  A self-service process will be provided to students who wish to migrate their email.

OneNote content WILL be migrated.  Note - we are currently testing a procedure to export the contents of OneNote.

Shared Calendars will not migrate completely.  The calendar may migrate, but the permissions will NOT be migrated.  If the calendar is migrated, the permissions will need to be recreated upon completion of the project.
