On Thursday, September 7th, Taylor County School District Superintendent Roger D. Cook recorded a podcast with “Education Reimagined,” a popular education movement focused on transforming education for all. Mr. Cook was joined by three Taylor County High School seniors, Lexi Raikes, Lauren Williams, and Weston Young throughout the podcast.

Taylor County Schools to Donate Items for Hurricane Harvey Victims

Taylor County School District will be collecting non-perishable items to donate to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Harvey victims. There will be a box to collect items in the front office of each school (TCPC, TCIS, TCMS, TCHS).

Please do not donate any clothing items.

Taylor County FFA attended the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training Center for the first week of FFA Camp, June 12th-16th. 20 members gained leadership, communication and teamwork skills throughout the week by going to their officer or committee classes and two chosen special interest classes of their choice.

On Wednesday, June 28th, Peyton McCubbin, a soon-to-be 8th grader at Taylor County Middle School was named Junior Beta National Secretary at the Beta Convention held on Orlando, FL.

Taylor County FFA Members Achieve Success at State FFA Convention! Agriscience Fair Division

The 88th Kentucky FFA State Convention was held June 6th-8th, 2017 in Lexington, KY. Nineteen members of the Taylor County FFA Chapter attended the convention and competed in several competitions and events such as Ag Marketing, Farm Business Management, Middle School Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Impromptu Speeches, and Agriscience Fair Projects.

Taylor County School District Hosts 2nd Annual Personalized Learning Summit Student Parent Panel

On Tuesday, June 6th, 2017, Taylor County School District hosted its second annual personalized learning summit. The event was held at Taylor County High School and over 150 people were in attendance. Teachers and administrators traveled from Tennessee, Michigan, Missouri, South Carolina, Kansas, and Minnesota to gain first-hand experience on this innovative approach to teaching.

There have been several reports of users not being able to access the portal since Infinite Campus migrated school districts to the cloud.  The recommended solution is to uninstall and reinstall the mobile app.

The surplus buses available are:  1993 International, 1994 International, 1995 International, 1999 International (wrecked), 2003 Freightliner (wrecked).

Taylor County School District is looking for Substitute Teachers!

 

Taylor County School District is looking for Substitute Teachers.  This is a great opportunity for those that are in college or need a part time job. A background check will also be required. 

Applicants with a valid Kentucky teaching certificate or applicants with a 4-year college degree (any major) and a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA (or 3.0 on the last 60 hours) will be paid as a Rank IV employee with an emergency certificate.  Applicants that have at least a junior standing (64 hours) and who are currently enrolled in the teacher education program with a minimum 2.5 GPA will also be paid as a Rank IV. Proof of enrollment will be required.

All applicants must submit a copy of your Kentucky teaching certificate, an official college transcript, and three (3) letters of reference. Taylor County Schools requires a physical and a state and federal criminal records check on all substitute teachers. Physicals will be accepted if they have been done within the last 90 days. Crime checks will be accepted from other districts if they have been done within 6 months.

 

TCHS Class Night 2017

The Taylor County High School 2017 graduating class celebrated Class Night on Thursday, May 18th. Students received awards and scholarships throughout the ceremony.

Taylor County School District hosted its annual scholarship golf scramble on Friday, June 2nd, 2017 at Campbellsville Country Club.

TCHS Youth Leadership Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to Taylor County High School Seniors, Chloe Benningfield and Madison Lauer. Chloe and Madison were recipients of the two Youth Leadership scholarships. Both girls were awarded their $250 scholarship during Class Night on Thursday, May 18th. Students were eligible to apply for the scholarship if they were part of Taylor County Youth Leadership during their junior year. Criteria included GPA, class rank, ACT score, extracurricular activities, and honors and awards.

TCHS College & Career Ready Scholarship Recipient Trevor South

Congratulations to Taylor County High School Senior, Trevor South. Trevor was the recipient of the $1,000 College & Career Ready Scholarship. He was awarded the scholarship during Class Night on Thursday, May 18th. Trevor plans on attending University of Kentucky in August.

Congratulations to Taylor County High School Senior, Cheyenne Berrier. Cheyenne was the recipient of the $500 Career Ready Scholarship. She was awarded the scholarship during Class Night on Thursday, May 18th. Cheyenne plans on attending Campbellsville University in August.

TCHS College Ready Scholarship Recipient Amelia Newton

Congratulations to Taylor County High School Senior, Amelia Newton. Amelia was the recipient of the $500 College Ready Scholarship. She was awarded the scholarship during Class Night on Thursday, May 18th. Amelia plans on attending Murray State in August.

Taylor County Superintendent Receives Outstanding Administrator Award KMEA 4th District Outstanding Administrator

Before the board meeting on Tuesday, May 9th, Roger D. Cook, superintendent at Taylor County School District, was presented the Kentucky Music Educators Association 4th District Outstanding Administrator award for 2016-2017 school year. Mr. Jericho McCoy presented him with the award.

TCMS Students Accepted into Rogers Explorer Program 2017 Roger Explorers

Four Taylor County Middle School students have been accepted into to the prestigious Rogers Explorers program. The following TCMS students who will attend the three-day, two-night program are Grayson Wise (daughter of Max and Heather Wise), Morgan Melton (daughter of David and April Melton), Emma Maynard (daughter of Sean and Kathy Maynard), and Audrey Young (daughter of Dana Rogers and Troy Young). The program focuses on building skills in math, science, technology, community service, and leadership.

On Wednesday, March 22, Taylor County High School Art Students competed at the Caveland Regional Art Competition in Horse Cave, KY. The students competed against six other schools and over 200 pieces of art. TCHS students took home the most awards from the competition! The results are below.

TCHS DECA Students attend International Conference in California TCHS Deca Students at International Competition

Taylor County High School DECA students attended the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Anaheim, California from April 25th through April 30th. The students competed against 20,000 other students from across the United States, Canada, Guam, China, Puerto Rico, and Spain.
