On Thursday, May 11th, the Taylor County High School Jazz Band performed for the intermediate school students during their morning meeting.
The band performed swing, rock and Latin music for the students. They performed “Rock Around the Clock,” a rock tune from the 70’s called “Vehicle,” a Latin tune “Baile Para mi Hija” (Dance for my Daughter), “Georgia on my Mind,” “Blue Skies,” “On Broadway,” and last but not least, “It Don’t Mean a Thing if it Ain’t Got That Swing.”
Several of the jazz band students had solos throughout their performance. Solos included Bryce Willis on the saxophone, Andrew Powell on the trumpet, Hayden Dabney on the drums, Olivia Langston on the trumpet, Chase Craig on the trumpet, Elijah Epperson on the drums, and Connor Lawson on the trombone.
Jazz band students that also performed were Codie Allen, Wesley Rose, Mason Phillips, Maddie Vaughn, Jacob Cundiff, Baley Matney, Brandi Blakeman, Jessi Haliday, Hannah England, and Destiny Corbin. The TCHS Jazz Band is under the leadership of Taylor County Band Director Mr. Stephen Bishop.
