Four Taylor County Middle School students have been accepted into to the prestigious Rogers Explorers program. The following TCMS students who will attend the three-day, two-night program are Grayson Wise (daughter of Max and Heather Wise), Morgan Melton (daughter of David and April Melton), Emma Maynard (daughter of Sean and Kathy Maynard), and Audrey Young (daughter of Dana Rogers and Troy Young). The program focuses on building skills in math, science, technology, community service, and leadership.
The Rogers Explorers program is coordinated by The Center for Rural Development. The Center also partners with Lindsey Wilson College, Asbury University, University of Pikeville, Union College, University of the Cumberlands, Morehead State University, and Eastern Kentucky University.
Students from The Center’s 45-county service area may apply during their eighth-grade year and, if they are selected to attend, they will participate the summer before their ninth-grade year. In order to apply, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4-point scale. A total of 210 students across all 45 counties were selected to attend for the 2017 year.
Emma Maynard and Audrey Young will attend the June 4th – June 6th session at Asbury University. Morgan Melton and Grayson Wise will attend the June 11th – June 13th at University of the Cumberlands.
