Taylor County FFA Attends KY FFA Leadership Training

Leadership Awards

Taylor County FFA attended the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training Center for the first week of FFA Camp, June 12th-16th. 20 members gained leadership, communication and teamwork skills throughout the week by going to their officer or committee classes and two chosen special interest classes of their choice.

While attending camp, members received leadership points by going above and beyond and being extravagant. Taylor County FFA is proud to have three members who received the Leadership Award. This award goes to the top 10% of camp attendees and the recipients were Kailey Thompson, Brianna McVay, and Kelsie Perkins. The Outstanding Leadership Award goes to the top 3% of camp attendees and that went to our very own, Abigal Smoot.

Ryan Feese competed in the Tractor Driving Contest and placed second. He will attend the last week of camp to compete in the state contest. Hunter Miller competed in the Quiz Contest and placed first and he will compete in the state contest in August at the Kentucky State Fair.

"I also want to congratulate two outstanding executive committee members, Brianna McVay and Kailey Thompson, and two of my fellow officers, Kelsie Perkins and Abigal Smoot, for receiving leadership awards by displaying leadership skills through all of their activities at camp. I hope members will look up to them this year to grow their leadership ability. I would also like to congratulate Ryan Underwood for being a member of the winning athletic group for the week. After many hours of practice and studying, Hunter Miller won the week's FFA quiz contest. Ryan Feese took part in the tractor driving class during the week and placed second for the week and will advance to state. Congratulations to Hunter and Ryan for their achievements and good luck at their state contest!" said Megan Underwood, 2017-2018 Taylor County FFA President.
