Taylor County High School hosted its annual Veteran’s Day Program on Friday, November 9, 2018 in Citizens Bank Arena. The student-led program honored local Veterans.
TCHS senior Macy McAnelly welcomed all visitors and helped lead the program and TCHS sophomore Grayson Wise presented the Opening Reflection. TCHS junior Bobbie Beard read the poem “In Flanders Field” and TCHS junior Jesslynne Mann read “This One is for the Soldier.”
The Taylor County Band performed music throughout the event including The National Anthem, “Armed Forces Pride of America” while each branch of the military was honored (Army, Marines, Navy, US Coast Guard, and US Air Force), and “America the Beautiful” while those Veterans killed in action were remembered.
The Taylor County Choir sang “God Bless America,” which was led by TCHS Choir Director, Jericho McCoy and “Armed Forces Pride of America.”
Girl Scout Troop 1726 handed out Poppies to the Veterans to wear as a symbol of a soldier’s sacrifice.
TCHS sophomore Jaylin Cox and TCHS junior Levi Harmon recognized all Veterans that attended the ceremony. A special thank you to the following Veterans for their service and for attending the TCHS Veteran’s Day Program:

Representative John “Bam” Carney recognized dignitaries and special guests who were in attendance.
Taylor County High School FFA President and senior, Kelsie Perkins, read the meaning of the Folding of the American Flag while FFA Senior Officers folded.
TCHS sophomore Hannah Phillips introduced the guest speaker for the morning, Mr. Dean Stoops, Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs.
After Mr. Stoops presented, a video was shown that was created by English III and SAC students and TCHS freshman Kaylea Neely provided the closing remarks.
The Taylor County High School Culinary Department provided the brunch afterwards for the Veterans. Taylor County High School Fancy That Boutique donated a gift for the Guest Speaker.
Additionally, the TCHS Boys Basketball Team set up chairs for the celebration, the TCHS Volleyball Team ushered Veterans to their seats, FFA Junior Officers were in charge of parking lot duty, and the TCHS Art Department created patriotic table art to display at brunch,
