The Kentucky Constitution establishes the prerogatives of the parents to choose the formal education for the child. Therefore, parents may choose to homeschool their child. If a parent chooses this option, they take complete responsibility for educating their child. The parent/guardian selects the curriculum and educational materials. There is no state financial assistance for families who choose this option. 

KRS 159.040 does require private schools, including homeschool, to maintain attendance and scholarship reports, and that these records are to be open for inspection by directors of pupil personnel and officials of the Department of Education.  

Homeschools are registered each year within ten (10) days of the beginning of the school year until the student graduates or returns to a public or private school.

Transcript Requests

High school transcripts and inactive records are stored at the Taylor County Board of Education after five years. Please contact the Taylor County Board of Education at 270-465-5371 to request an official copy of your transcript. 

High school transcripts for five years or less, please contact the high school at 270-465-4431 or click here to request your transcript on Parchment. 

Graduation Verifications

For a graduation verification from five years or less, please contact the high school at 270-465-4431. For a graduation verification over five years, please contact the Taylor County Board of Education at 270-465-5371.

Students seeking a transfer must be in regular attendance, with fewer than three unexcused absences or three unexcused tardies, be in good standing in regard to discipline, and must be making minimum academic progress. Non-compliance with these requirements may result in forfeiture of future transfers or a return of the student to his/her school of residence. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent.
