Taylor Co Bank Cardinal Financial Center Ribbon Cutting 25-26
Taylor County High School proudly hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the Taylor County Bank Cardinal Financial Center (TCB CFC) for the 2025–2026 school year.
The event marked another exciting year for this long-standing school-based enterprise, which continues to provide students with valuable hands-on experience in banking, financial management, and customer service.
The ceremony opened with remarks from Addie Newton, Vice President of Promotion, who welcomed guests and invited community members to open accounts and connect with the CFC’s newly launched Instagram account, @tcbank_cfc. “We are so excited you could join us today as we celebrate this special moment and prepare to officially open for business,” Newton said.
Carter Wise, Lead Teller, introduced the senior staff members who have been preparing for the grand opening over the past several weeks. This year’s team includes tellers Will Bennett, Addison Compton, Parker Davis, Ethan Garrison, Griffin Hines, and Silas Young. The leadership team features Addie Newton (VP of Promotion), Makenna Franklin (VP of Operations), and Jaxon McCubbin (Chief Financial Officer), with Sadie Young serving as the President of the Taylor County Bank Cardinal Financial Center.
During her remarks, President Sadie Young expressed gratitude to Jim Miller, Jennifer Johnson, Monica Hamilton, and the Taylor County Bank Board of Directors for their continued partnership and support. She also recognized Mr. Braden, Mr. Sanders, and the Taylor County Board Members for their dedication to the program and encouragement of student-led enterprise initiatives.
Chief Financial Officer Jaxon McCubbin highlighted the financial learning opportunities provided by the TCB CFC. “The Taylor County Bank Cardinal Financial Center has been a successful school-based enterprise at Taylor County High School for 28 years,” McCubbin said. “Taylor County Bank has been a fantastic corporate sponsor since 2014. This year, our rates will be 2.25% interest on savings accounts and 3.25% on six-month CDs." Through this partnership, high school students gain real-world banking experience that gives them a financial advantage for adulthood.
Vice President of Operations Makenna Franklin shared details about the program’s expanding educational initiatives. The TCB Cardinal Financial Center takes pride in teaching financial literacy to students across our district. They offer monthly five-minute mini-lessons on topics such as how to write a check, basic banking skills, and the importance of compound interest. They've also developed a reading program for second graders, where TCB CFC staff reads financial literacy-themed books and donates copies to each classroom, helping students begin developing smart money habits at an early age.
Claire Melton, Junior Class Lead Teller, introduced the junior staff who will manage the bank on Fridays during sixth period. This year’s junior tellers include Sarah Blakeman, Nell Coyle, Miya Downs, Kenzi England, Griffin Hansford, Sophie Hayes, Lane Hord, Will Kildow, Loren Nolley, Holden Sprowles, Zoe Matthews, and John Zottman.
