The new Taylor County Aquatic Center hosted its official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, August 7, 2026, bringing together community partners, student-athletes, elected officials, and local residents to celebrate this milestone for the community.
Superintendent Robert Braden thanked Taylor County School Board Members, Taylor County Fiscal Court, Senator Max Wise, and Representative Sarge Pollock for their partnership and advocacy in securing funds for the aquatic center. Mr. Braden also expressed gratitude to the Taylor County School District Maintenance Department for their hard work and contributions throughout the construction of the aquatic center.
Steve Doss, longtime swim coach for both Campbellsville and Taylor County Swim Teams and the Aquatic Center Coordinator, also spoke during the ceremony, saying that, “the opportunities this is offering us are unlike anything we’ve had before. We’re going to be able to keep this going year-round.” Coach Doss introduced three swim team members, Athena Angel, sophomore at Taylor County High School, Derik Bishop, junior at Campbellsville High School, and Mason Jones, senior at Taylor County High School. The student-athletes shared how the new facility will enhance training opportunities and strengthen the overall success of their swim programs, while also creating opportunities to serve their community through their roles as lifeguards.
Representative Sarge Pollock, Magistrate Derrick Bright, and Laura Dillery, a Taylor County High School graduate, former swim team member, and current aquatic center employee, shared remarks during the ceremony about the positive impact the facility will have on local families, student-athletes, and the community as a whole.
We would like to thank District 5 Magistrate Derrick Bright, Allen Crabtree with the City of Campbellsville, and Representative Pollock for attending the ceremony and demonstrating their support for the aquatic center and the many opportunities it will create for our students, families, and community for years to come.
Located at 2705 Hodgenville Road, the Taylor County Aquatic Center is open to all members in the community and surrounding counties. The aquatic center is open Monday through Saturday, 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM, through Labor Day, with plans to announce its fall and winter schedule soon.
