Taylor County High School Honors Local Heroes at Annual Veterans Day Program
Taylor County High School proudly hosted its annual Veterans Day Program on Friday, November 7, 2025, to honor the brave men and women who have served our country.
The program, led by senior Molly Watson, brought together students, staff, and community members in a heartfelt celebration of service, sacrifice, and patriotism.
The ceremony opened with a prayer, led by junior Jaci Rogers, followed by a welcome from TCHS Principal Neil Sanders. Junior McKinley Moss led the audience in the National Anthem, while senior Audrey Hicks performed the song in American Sign Language.
Throughout the program, TCHS students shared original tributes, poems, and reflections dedicated to local veterans. Freshman Gracie Davis, junior Miley Sprowles, and seniors Audrey Hicks and Isabelle Knopp each offered personal words of gratitude and remembrance.
The TCHS Choir performed “Veterans Day Salute,” honoring each branch of the U.S. military, and the FFA Officers, led by President Alyssa Benningfield, demonstrated the symbolic Folding of the American Flag ceremony.
In one of the program’s most moving moments, the audience stood in silence during a video tribute honoring Taylor County’s fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Senior Nora Harris performed “God Bless America” with TC Choir Director Jericho McCoy, and senior Hunter Farmer, this year’s student speaker, shared a powerful message on service and gratitude.
As part of this year’s celebration, TCHS students also engaged in acts of service: collecting warm clothing, organizing canned food drives, and creating a student-produced video to thank local veterans. The video, created by senior Addison Cowherd and junior Miley Sprowles, premiered during the ceremony.
The program concluded with a closing prayer from senior Parker Davis and a standing ovation for all veterans in attendance. Following the ceremony, members of the TCHS HOSA chapter escorted veterans to a special brunch held in their honor.
Taylor County School District extends its deepest gratitude to all veterans for their courage, sacrifice, and service to our nation. ![]()
