Taylor County High School Pre-Engineering & Technology teacher, Mr. Bill Shoemaker and Taylor County High School Science teacher, Mr. Brandon Bennett, decided to take learning to the next level this past week by combining classes and co-teaching a lesson for their students.
Mr. Shoemaker challenged students in his class to build the fastest CO2 powered dragster over a four week period. On race day, Mr. Bennett’s Science Concept class attended the event and took data of all racers with a goal to calculate overall speed and acceleration of the dragsters.
The fastest dragster of the day was designed and built by Jacob Porter. After finalizing the calculations, the Science Concepts students’ determined that his car reached a top speed of 50.01 mph in just 57 feet!
